Dan Coman was born in Gersa, Bistrita-Nasaud, on 27 July 1975. He made his literary debut with the collection of poetry the year of the tawny mole (Timpul, 2003), followed by ghinga (Vinea, 2005) and The Mara Dictionary (Cartier, 2009). In 2004, he was awarded the Mihai Eminescu National Poetry Prize, Opera Prima, and the Union of Romanian Writers Prize for Debut. In 2010, he was awarded the Radio Romania Cultural Prize for Poetry, and in 2011 the Vilenica (Slovenia) Crystal Prize. He has published the prose works The Irresistible (Cartea Romaneasca, 2010), Marriage (Polirom, 2016), The Parish (Polirom, 2017) and these things that will never change (Polirom, 2019). His texts have appeared in anthologies published in Romania, Sweden, France, the U.S.A., Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Canada.
